Independence Building and Transitioning to Adulthood

The transition from youth to adult is one of the biggest steps we take in life, and can be extremely challenging not only for those with a diagnosis of Autism, but for many adolescents and young adults. A Transition to Adulthood intervention will focus on the skills that you/your young adult need to be successful in developing as much independence as possible. Goals may include but are not limited to:

  • Money management
    • Creating a budget
    • Accessing and managing ODSP and Passport funding
  • Sexual health
  • Daily living skills
    • Shopping
    • Doing laundry
    • Food preparation
    • Navigating public transportation
  • Self-advocacy
  • Cooking
  • Living with others
  • Organization
  • Job Readiness
